Volunteers are vital in helping Lake Erie Nature & Science Center fulfill its mission and provide wildlife services. Current volunteer opportunities and applications are listed below. Thank you for your interest and support of Lake Erie Nature & Science Center as we educate and inspire people of all ages to understand, appreciate and take responsibility for our natural world.
Wildlife Rehabilitation Volunteer (ages 18 & up)
Assist with the daily cleaning, feeding, and care of more than 150 species of animals. During peak migratory periods there will be a great need to assist with native songbirds injured during migration. Other animals may include birds of prey, mammals, reptiles, amphibians and aquatic animals under the direction of the wildlife staff.
Animal Care Volunteer (ages 18 & up)
Assist with the daily cleaning, feeding, and care to our collection of more than 100 resident educational animals including domestic and native mammals, birds of prey, reptiles, amphibians and aquatic animals under the direction of the wildlife staff.
Lights Out Cleveland Volunteer (ages 18 & up)
Assist with the collection of deceased and live injured migratory birds in the downtown Cleveland area.
Grounds Maintenance Volunteer (ages 18 & up)
Assist in performing general grounds maintenance in the Center’s Wildlife Gardens, including pulling weeds, plant care, leaf raking and removal, sweeping paths to clear stones, mulch and snow. Candidate must commit to a regular weekly, bi-weekly or monthly schedule.
