Get outside

One of the best ways to celebrate Earth Day every day is to spend time outdoors. Take your outdoor adventures to the next level by recording observations through daily, weekly, or monthly journaling. What animals did you see? Which flowers are blooming? How many constellations did you see in the night sky? Small observations lead to a greater understanding and appreciation for our natural world.

Make small lifestyle changes

Small changes can make a big impact. Consider ways you can implement sustainable changes in your lifestyle. Swap plastic bags and bottles for reusable items, try Meatless Mondays and new recipes with your family, or opt for walking or biking instead of driving for nearby errands. Not only will you reduce your carbon footprint, but you will also build lifelong values and a sense of environmental responsibility in young children.

Share nature with others

Experiences in nature are great ways to unplug and spend high-quality family time. Embark on a nature scavenger hunt, grow and care for a backyard vegetable garden, or read a story together outdoors. Some of our favorite Earth Day books include ‘Here We Are: Notes for Living on Planet Earth’ by Oliver Jeffers, ‘Thank You, Earth: A Love Letter to Our Planet’ by April Pulley Sayre, and ‘Planetarium’ by Raman Prinja and Chris Wormell.
