Lake Erie Nature & Science Center brings the fascinating realm of astronomy to people of all ages, from preschoolers through adults.
The Walter R. Schuele Planetarium is a full-dome theater designed primarily for an audience of young children, families and students. Last transformed in 2014 with two new projectors, the planetarium uses a combination of a digital projector and an optical mechanical star projector to give visitors an immersive learning experience through high-resolution, 360-degree images and a realistic, breathtaking display of more than 3,000 stars.
The replacement of our digital projector at a cost of $200,000 will allow Lake Erie Nature & Science Center to continue to serving as a leading science education institution in the community by:
- Delivering immersive, inquiry-based space science education programs to nearly 25,000 preschoolers through adults
- Engaging visitors of all ages with abstract STEAM education concepts and space exploration
- Providing access to one of only two publicly accessible planetariums in Cuyahoga County
As an independent 501c3 nonprofit organization, the Nature Center relies on donations and grants to support day-to-day operations in addition to capital improvements. Your support of the Digital Planetarium Projector Replacement Project will help us continue delivering high-quality space science education programs and inspiring visitors of all ages.
