laser light shows

The Walter R. Schuele Planetarium will be transformed into "an ever-changing universe of brilliantly colored astronomical imagery and animations" when Skylase technology arrives for a limited engagement, starting Saturday, May 24.

what is skylase?

Skylase is a full-dome laser projection system, created by Audio Visual Imagineering, Inc.  Skylase was specifically designed for planetarium projection and produces dazzling laser light shows, pulsing and changing to a variety of music that runs the gamet from the Beatles to the B52's.

legends of the night sky

Early daytime matinees (1:30 p.m. and earlier) will include the popular constellation laser show, "Legends of the Nigh Sky: Perseus and Andromeda."  The award-winning laser animation takes a light-hearted look at the stories behind the constellations. Perseus and Andromeda is 18 minutes of full-dome fun, while also teaching children and adults the Greek stories about the stars.

music catalogue

Skylase laser light and music programs are choreographed to a diverse music catalogue that includes the classic rock of Pink Floyd to current artists like Foo Fighters and U2. There are shows featuring the music of pop legends like Elton John, Mariah Carey, Celine Dion and many, many more. Music and light intensive programs at 3 and 8 p.m. will be longer than the early matinees. . Music selections for the 3 and 8 p.m. Saturday shows will be posted here on the Center’s website on the preceding Friday.
