Our mission to educate and inspire is strengthened through our relationships with our partners.
Lake Erie Nature & Science Center is an affiliate of the Cleveland Metroparksand leases space from this Ohio political subdivision. We are one of several non-profitorganizations able to operate within this unique jurisdiction which is nationally known for consistently receiving the support of local voters! Our center abuts Huntington Reservation allowing us to extend our learning environment well beyond our front doors.
Lake Erie Nature & Science Center is supported in part by the residents of Cuyahoga County through a public grant from Cuyahoga Arts & Culture. Funding from Cuyahoga Arts & Culture is different from our other funders because Cuyahoga County residents voted in 2006 to create this agency to fund the amazing arts and culture in our community with local tax dollars. Thank you for your support!
Through our relationship with the National Aeronautics and Space Administration, we are able to share data available from some of the most recent space missions. Please visit our public planetarium presentations to view these exclusive images and other unique space updates. NASA also shares some of its unique “artifacts” like moon rocks and space suits!
Ohio Sea Grant is an outreach program administered through Ohio State University Extension. Every coastal state, including all of the Great Lakes states, has a Sea Grant program. The main objectives of Ohio Sea Grant are research, education, and outreach regarding Lake Erie.
The Association of Nature Center Administrators (ANCA) is an international network of nature and environmental learning center leaders designed to enhance professionalism and provide the support system critical to innovative and progressive management. For Lake Erie Nature & Science Center, active membership in ANCA creates an opportunity for our management team to learn and grow AND a chance for us to lead and mentor our peers across the country, serving as ANCA workshop leaders and peer consultants.
We are a beneficiary of Earth Share of Ohio, part of a nationwide network of America's leading non-profit environmental and conservation organizations, working to promote environmental education and charitable giving through workplace giving campaigns. Earth Share of Ohio provides an opportunity for environmentally conscious employees and workplaces to support environmental causes and organizations (like Lake Erie Nature & Science Center) through a charitable giving drive.
We are collaborating with the Cuyahoga County Board of Health, Cleveland Metroparks, Cuyahoga Soil and Water Conservation District, University of Toledo and the cities of Bay Village and Westlake to conduct a U.S. EPA-funded project through 2013. This multi-year program is designed to increase the public's understanding of the Lake Erie watershed and to improve recreational water quality at Huntington Beach.
