Laura has served on the Board of Directors since 1999, when she and her husband moved to Avon Lake from Minneapolis to accept a job here. Laura has served as a member of the Governance Committee for five years and, in the past, served as Secretary. Laura heard about the Center from a posting on a bulletin board at Ernst & Young, while she was employed there many years ago.
Laura graduated with honors from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law. Laura has thirty years of business legal experience which she brings to the Board, having been called upon to review legal documents, leases and contracts. She provides strategic unclaimed property communication, consulting and compliance services to a broad range of businesses across the country as a Senior Manager of Keane, a professional services organization.
Laura assisted in the successful effort to hire a lobbyist to represent the Center in requests for federal and state funds, and has helped the Center secure unclaimed funds. Laura has long been an animal (domestic and wildlife) lover and feels the Center’s formal and informal educational initiatives are a critical resource for children and adults. Laura feels the Center is a refreshing alternative to gadgets, electronics and high tech entertainment and that the Center fosters understanding of the impact of our actions and practices on our natural world. With Northeast Ohio’s abundant wildlife and access to Lake Erie, the Center’s goal of growth and expansion is well served. Laura feels blessed to be of service to the Center.
