jim doughman

Jim DoughmanJim previously served on the Board of Directors from 2002 to 2006 and was recently re-elected in 2011. He is a Past President of the Board of Directors, and currently co-chairs the Development Committee. Jim’s longtime connection with the Center started as a pre-teen with his involvement in the junior curator program, now known as the Naturalist Assistant (NA) program.

Jim is Senior Director of Operations for JumpStart, where he manages investment logistics for the company, administers the vetting process for the North Coast Opportunity Technology Fund of Cuyahoga County, and assists portfolio companies identify prospective institutional investors.Prior to his career with JumpStart, Jim served as Vice President of Sales and Marketing for a new media startup, provided consulting services to smaller manufacturing firms while with CAMP (now known as MAGNET) and served as a sales engineer at Cleveland Crystals where he sold crystalline laser components to scientific, medical, advanced energy and military organizations.

Jim holds a BS in public relations journalism from Kent State University (physics minor) and an MBA from Case Western Reserve University Weatherhead School of Management. In addition to serving on the Center’s Board of Directors, he serves in leadership roles with BAYarts and Passport Project, a community arts agency focused on diversity. He also sits on the board of directors for Solar Systems Networking, Inc., a local IT consulting firm.
