Seasonal Wildlife Assistant

Season: April 15th - October 15th
Hours: Wednesday- Sunday 9:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m.(40 hours per week)
Pay rate: $10.50/hr.

Position Summary:  Assists in performing daily care of rehab and permanent (as needed) animals, answering animal-related questions from the public, administrative duties and any other wildlife staff duties.

Duties:

• Perform daily cleaning, feeding, and medical treatment of rehab animals.
• Answer animal related questions from the public on phone and in person.
• Learn to and perform wildlife rehabilitation intakes.
• Assist with permanent animal care.
• Supervise volunteers. 
• Perform nightly closing procedures.

Qualifications:

• Experience preferred in either animal medicine or wildlife handling/education.
• Possess both wild and domestic animal knowledge.
• Possess public relations-based thinking and actions.
• Possess initiative as well as ability to work as part of a team.
• Have good organizational skills.
• Ability to prioritize multiple tasks.
• Have good inter-personal skills.
• Possess valid driver’s license.
• Good enough physical condition to load and push wheelbarrows of substrate and carry 50lb. bags of food.
